RED QUEEN BOOK REVIEW

It’s been a while since my previous book review, so I’m excited to share this Red Queen book review with you.
Let’s get started. *Spoilers ahead.*

Red Queen – Summary

The world is divided into people with Red blood, and people with Silver blood. The Red-blooded are peasants, slaves. The Silver blooded are royalty, and they possess certain superpowers, mainly controlling the elements: fire, water, metal, etc., or mind reading and mind control.
The protagonist, Mare Barrow, a peasant-born Red, discovers that she also has such superpowers.
So she is a Red with Silver abilities.

She discovers her powers by mistake, in front of a large Silver audience, causing panic and confusion. Then the royal family lies to everybody that Mare is actually Silver, not Red, to keep everything under control. And they force her to get engaged with their youngest son. In fact, she does not seem to be forced at all. She just kind of raises her shoulders and accepts it. “These evil bastards, they’re taking me from the dusty roads and making me a princess. Damn it. Eh, whatever, I’ll just go with it.” Or at least that’s how I felt about it.

SAVE THE PLANET: RECYCLE PLASTIC BOTTLES

PLASTIC BOTTLES

It is preferable not to use them at all, but if you really don’t have a choice, you can at least make sure that you recycle plastic bottles after use.

Why? Because if you don’t, one of two things will happen:

  1. That piece of plastic that you just threw away may get into the ocean and be swallowed by a poor marine animal, who thus will suffer a painful and unnecessary death.
  2. You may unwillingly swallow pieces of it, possibly coming from the same source mentioned above.

APP OF THE MONTH: DUOLINGO

Hey there, guys! How are you doing? I hope you are having an amazing Sunday wherever you are. No holiday for me today, cuz’ I have decided to start a new series called “App of the month”. I will review and share with you the app that I have used and loved the most in the past few weeks.

As I have mentioned in my first ever motivational post, people usually waste a lot of time on their phones. Which kind of makes sense from a certain point of view. There are many moments of inactivity during a person’s day. Whether you are waiting on a line, or you are on your commute, or you just want to take a break from work. Your phone is always on hand, ready to keep you busy.

It hurts me so much to think about how many people play Candy Crush or other pointless & time wasting games in their free time. Because they do not realize that they are just giving away their time, for nothing.

After I have posted the previously mentioned article on the blog, one of my readers asked me what language learning app I would recommend to her. The app that I have been using in the past two years is, as you might have guessed, Duolingo. Continue reading →

I have been wanting to read this book for such a long time! “Well, since you consider yourself such a fashion enthusiast, this book is a must-read, right?”

I have bought this book in December 2017. That is when I finally found it at its cheapest price: 5 $ ( 20 RON ), HERE. Before that, I have never seen a price below 13 $ ( 50 RON ). So when I saw this one on the website, I immediately ordered it.

TRAVEL DIARIES – DAY 1: TRANSFĂGĂRĂȘAN


Note: The following intro is going to show up in all of my “Travel Diaries” posts, followed by distinct descriptions and impressions on each place that I have visited.

A few days ago I went on an exploratory trip in my very beautiful country, Romania. I absolutely love mountain areas and cities located into the mountains, so I decided to visit some of the most famous and beautiful such cities in Romania. 
Impressions: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
I am so pleased with the outcome of this trip, I have seen soooo many beautiful, beautiful places, and I must say, again, that I am very proud of my country. I sincerely and dearly encourage you to visit Romania and all of the places that I am going to mention in this “Travel Diaries” series. I will also show you a preview, if you are harder to convince.

I only took photos with my phone, because I didn’t bring my camera with me – and I really regret that – but, on the other hand, there are a lot of nice photos, made by professional photographers on the Internet, so I am going to show you some of those. I know that this has no personal touch from me, so I am also going to add some of the photos that I took with my phone and some that I posted on my Instagram account ( @alexandra_bulac ), and I think they turned out really well. My photos (except for the Instagram ones) are not edited. If you want Photoshop perfection, that’s what the Internet ones are for. I will just show you the raw beauty of it.

HOLIDAY SERIES: PART 3

Seaside edition!
The third packing list is about things you should take with you if you have planned a trip to the seaside. The items in this post, plus the ones already mentioned in the previous two parts of my holiday series (check out PART 1 and PART 2), are the must haves for a perfect holiday by the sea.

First and most important tip: USE SUNSCREEN!
Second tip: don’t stay in the direct sunlight between 11:00 a.m and 3:00 p.m.
Third tip: cover your skin with thin, light colored fabrics.
And don’t neglect your hair, it also needs protection!

HOLIDAY SERIES: PART 1

Aaand I am back, after nine months of absence. I have abandoned my blog because my initial intention was to make it a fashion blog, with photos of the outfits that I wear. When college has begun, I did not have time to take care of my blog, but the biggest problem that I had and that I still have is the fact that I do not have a photographer to take photos of my outfits. Therefore, last year I have decided to give up on my blog and I made it private, so that I would be the only one able to read it.
Until now. I have realized that, only because I can’t have a fashion blog, does not mean that I can’t have a blog at all. So here I am, bringing Little White Diamond back to life!


I know that I might be a little late with this kind of post, but for those of you who haven’t already left  for the holidays, I am here with some tips for having the perfect holiday (or at least the perfect holiday backpack).

DETAILS

All of us have heard that “beauty is in the details”, and I have recently discovered how true that is. The only difference is that, in my case, happiness is in the details. If you don’t understand what I mean, keep reading. 🙂
There are really few things that can make us extremely happy, but only because we do not own them, does not mean that we can’t enjoy our life. What I am trying to say is that it’s the small actions and objects that can influence our mood or the way we see life.
A smile, a new dress, a beautiful landscape, a childhood photo… All of these are things that we sometimes forget to enjoy. In my opinion, the key to a better life is trying to see the good and the beauty in everything.
I am now going to give you some examples of small things that have the ability to slightly or significantly change my mood, and I am going to begin with the object that made me think about writing this article in the first place.
