For my Romanian readers: If possible, please read the English version of this holiday essentials article, it is more detailed.
EN:
Since so many of you guys are traveling somewhere for the 1st of May, I have decided to share with you my HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS LIST. ♥
All of the items in this list are absolute must-haves that I always take with me no matter where I go for the holidays. If you already have a very detailed travel essentials list, make sure to compare it with this one. Who knows what you might discover? Also, if you have noticed some really important thing that is on your list and not on mine, please let me know in the comments section below! I am really curious to find out if I have missed anything.
LATER EDIT: Ok… I know I said that I would stick to the essentials, but I just couldn’t. Therefore, you will find below all the possible and impossible things that you could take with you on a one week holiday. I hope they will inspire you and help you with the packing process. 🙂
Without further ado, let’s move on to the actual list:
HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS
I have sorted all the items into smaller packs, so that you can organize them more easily. If you do not like this sorting idea, feel free to note the items in a simple numbered list.
THE PHONE PACK
This is one of the most important packs, alongside the next one, because if you have your phone and wallet you can pretty much come out of any difficult situation. So make sure you don’t forget them!
- phone
- phone charger
- headphones
- phone case
- any other gadgets that you have ( lenses, selfie stick, portable ring light etc. )
THE WALLET PACK
- wallet + cash
- card
- tickets
- ID card
- driving licence
THE LEISURE PACK
I have chosen this to be the third pack because I have thought about all items in chronological order. ( When could you use them, from the moment you leave the house, and until the way back ). This pack contains all the activities that you could do on the road or at your destination, in your spare time.
- magazine
- book
- board games
- sports ( tennis racket, frisbee, football etc. )
THE PERSONAL CARE PACK
- tooth brush
- tooth paste ( mini version )
- mouthwash ( mini version )
- deodorant ( mini version )
- shampoo ( might have at the hotel )
- conditioner ( might have at the hotel )
- shower gel / soap ( might have at the hotel )
- tweezers
- nail clipper / file
- towels ( might have at the hotel )
- moisturizer
- blow dryer ( might have at the hotel )
THE WARDROBE PACK
I have also organized this pack in more categories. Again, this list is mostly for a one week holiday. If you’re only going on a short road trip, you definitely won’t be needing all of the items mentioned in this article.
CLOTHES
DO. NOT. OVERPACK. ( ladies )
Make sure to take mostly comfortable clothes, that you can mix and match together into different outfits. And don’t forget to check the weather forecast in order to know what type of items to pack.
LOUNGEWEAR
This includes the clothes that you will wear indoors, and the sleep wear. And of course the underwear.
ACCESSORIES
- jewelry
- sunglasses
- scarves
- hats
- belts
- socks
BAGS
Try to choose one / two bags that go with as many of the outfits that you have packed. You can bring a fancier bag and a more practical bag / backpack.
SHOES
- casual, comfy shoes
- “party” shoes
- slippers
THE “SUITS”
This includes special types of clothes, such as swimwear, ski suits, sports equipment etc.
THE MAKEUP PACK
- makeup bag, will be detailed in a separate post
- mirror
- sunscreen
- hair ties and bobby pins
- hair brush
- flat iron / curling iron
- perfume
THE HOUSEHOLD PACK
- plastic bags ( to throw things away or carry things ) – very useful!
- tissues and wet wipes
- medicine
If you are not a fan of long, complicated lists, there are other ways in which you can make sure you don’t forget anything at home ( or at the destination ).
The locations method
The method that I am currently using – and which works perfectly – is to organize not in packages ( makeup, electronics, clothes etc. ), but in locations around the house. So what I do is, instead of checking every category of items, I check every corner of my house. Every drawer / room is one location. And I check every single location in the house and take all the items that I need from each location. ( Example: I take everything that I need from the bathroom, then from the wardrobe, then from the drawers etc. After finishing every location, you can be sure that you have not forgotten anything, because the whole house has been checked. )
This method is especially useful when leaving from your travel location back home. Because you can make sure that you haven’t forgotten any item in the bathroom of your hotel room, on the bedside table or in a drawer.
These are all of my holiday must-haves, I hope you guys liked this article and found it useful. Of course, it is not a fatal problem if you forget any of the items mentioned above. You can even cut the list in half if you are certain that you won’t be needing many of them. ( Especially if you are a guy – I bet you are shocked by this huge holiday essentials list. ) But if you have enough room in your suitcase, it’s best to be prepared for any situation. 🙂
Let me know in the comments below or on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, what are your holiday essentials? The more creative, the better!
We’ll meet again tomorrow at 8:00 PM GMT+2, with the Fashion article!
