My opinion on Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink:
I have received this product as a prize at Glamour Street Fashion Show 2017. But it was only after one month that I have started seeing it all over the Internet. Fashionistas, beauty bloggers, makeup artists – everybody was talking about it.
I have only used it three times. Before writing this review I have decided to give it another try, in order to provide an accurate review. So here are my thoughts:
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink is a very resistant liquid lipstick, with a matte finish. It comes in a wide range of colors. You can see all of them in the picture below, at the end of the English version of the post. Moreover, the colors are all beautiful. The one that I have tested is in the color 20 PIONEER. It is a very intense shade of red, presented in the picture above.
Application
The applicator has an arrow-like shape, and it does the job pretty well. But the only thing that I do not like is that there is something like a hole in the middle of it. I’m not sure if you can see the shape in the picture above, but it makes the application pretty annoying. That is because there is less product on the margins and more inside the middle scoop. So you have to work “a lot” in order to evenly distribute the product on the lips.
Once you apply it, it dries very fast and does not leave a sticky sensation on the lips. So it is not uncomfortable to wear. In other words, it does not feel as if you have glued a plastic foil on your lips.
Removal
However, as for the removal… this is the only part that I do not like about it.
It is made to be a resistant lipstick, so it is not supposed to be easily wiped off the lips. But, man… you can’t even remove it with soap, makeup remover, and micellar water. The first time I used it I spent 15 minutes trying to wipe it off, without visible results.
Do you know what I finally used, in order to be able to completely remove it? Olive oil.
So yeah… this is the only disadvantage. And you can’t even consider it a disadvantage, since it is a good thing that you can’t wipe it off. Because that’s what it’s supposed to do – stay in place for 16 hours.
Durability
And about the 16 hours thing – yes, it can be true, but only if you do not eat/drink/kiss or talk too much the whole day. Otherwise, the inner part of your lips will lose color and you will be left with half-covered lips. I wore it yesterday when I also went out for dinner. After I have finished eating, part of the lipstick was still there. But it left me with half of the lip bare and with an unaesthetic contour at the margins. And I couldn’t even wipe it off, in order to at least have my lips completely bare.
To sum up, it holds very well and it does not transfer. So you will not leave a red mark on your coffee cup. But you will leave some red flakes of lipstick on everything.
It may have been my fault for not wiping off the excess lipstick after applying it. But 30 minutes into wearing it, I have noticed that it was flaking so badly, especially when I was smiling. And when I tried to gently wipe the flakes off, I have noticed that – shockingly – the lipstick was also fading away. This part was also really annoying.

In this picture, I am also wearing the Colossal Big Shot mascara from Maybelline.
The smallest price that I was able to find for the product is 7$ on Amazon.
Conclusion:
I know that you may say that I am a bit too rough with my makeup reviews, but I am trying to point out even the smallest possible defects because you guys deserve to know everything. It would be super easy for me to say “Yeah, the product is amazing, look how cool the colors are, buy it!” as other beauty bloggers do. But I want to provide accurate reviews and point out the possible problems that you may encounter while using the product.
In other words, Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink has a very resistant formula, which stays in place for a long time if you do not eat or drink. The price is a fair one, compared to other products of this kind, and the lipstick is really worth the money.
Downside
As for the downside… I personally do not feel comfortable wearing something that is so difficult to remove from the lips. I cannot help but think about what kind of chemicals they use in order to make it so resistant. And I also think about my poor suffocated lips. Overall, it is a good product and I am going to continue using it, but only on special occasions. But I recommend you try it and don’t forget to let us know what you think about it!
